Job Description

Examine patients by inspection, palpitation, percussion, auscultation, and other means; using stethoscopes, sphygmomanometers, and other instruments to determine the presence of disease, disorders, or injuries; works wit patient to establish preventative health practices.


Interview patients to determine the significant medical history of presenting problems; accurately, and legibly, document patient medical history


Order and/or perform various tests/analysts, and x-ray examinations to determine the nature, extent and duration of disease, disorder, or injury


Prescribe and/or administer inoculations, vaccinations, and other medications and/or treatments


Record diagnoses, diseases, treatments and other memoranda according to established procedure


Initiate the medical aspects of family planning at the patient’s request


Instruct, counsel and advise patients and parents concerning hygiene and methods of the prevention of disease, disorders and injury


Consult with and refer patients to cardiology, dermatology, gynecology, internal medicine, obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pathology, podiatry, psychiatry, neurology, proctology, radiology, surgery, and/or other specialties.


Collaborate with the Nutritionist and Social Worker in counseling patients and parents in the application of the principles of nutrition and hygiene including the selection and preparation of food and the management of the home


Admit and follow patients in the hospital and maintain hospital privileges in good standing


Serve on committees including, but not limited to, Quality Improvement or Pharmacy and Therapeutics as assigned


Report births, deaths, and notable diseases to public health authorities


Participate in the On-Call Schedule


Provides supervision for mid-level Providers



Qualifications MD Degree from an accredited school of Medicine including the successful completion of internship or residency programs in one of the Primary Care specialties. Must be board-eligible; Board Certification is preferred. Clinical Practice expertise is desirable. 2 years of Obstetrics experience is required. Must hold a valid Medical License in the State of Tennessee, which must be maintained throughout employment
